New Lives & New Places—Expansion into Wadsworth

The News—On July 18, by an overwhelming vote of 95%, Valleyview’s congregation voted to enfold into The Chapel’s ministries—to become a site of The Chapel in Wadsworth.

The Vision—The Chapel will expand our reach for Christ and his kingdom in the city of Wadsworth & the Medina County area by redesigning the former Valleyview Chapel into a vibrant ministry.

The Plan—With those who currently attend Valleyview and new families, we hope to transform this wonderful facility on 30 acres of lush land into a church site that replicates The Chapel's commitment to Christ and excellence in ministry. We want to see many embrace Christ and follow him. Additionally, our trustees are working on a plan to eliminate the building debt of Valleyview. The next steps will be a Town Hall meeting and then a vote by members of The Chapel.

The Goal—The Chapel in Wadsworth will be a fresh new church site with a very strong impact in families for generations to come.

People

Years ago, a core of dedicated Christ-followers felt the Lord’s leading to expand his kingdom in Wadsworth. Currently, Valleyview has 250 people in worship and a total of 430 counting kids and youth. At its peak, Valleyview had over 400 worshippers. Wadsworth’s population of 20,000 has grown in five years by 12%. Plans are for continued residential growth for the foreseeable future. 

History and Finances

The Chapel helped plant Valleyview in Wadsworth in 1992 with Pastor Bill McClure as a lead pastor. They entered their building with Pastor Pete Drury in 2001. Valleyview leadership approached The Chapel for wisdom and assistance in 2007. Since then, The Chapel has been giving financial, leadership, and pulpit assistance.

Last December, The Chapel and Valleyview trustees voted to join in an “engagement” with plans to wed as a church merger. Valleyview has an annual budget of $530,000 and a building debt of $1.75 million. This is comprised of ministry, staffing, facility, debt reduction and missions. The building includes a worship/all-purpose room, classroom space and offices. 

Our Vision

As part of The Chapel’s Embrace Tomorrow vision for the future, we have been praying that the Lord would lead and his will be accomplished. This five-year vision includes adding seven new worship venues. With God’s leading and direction, we think the Valleyview congregation and location are ready to further reach the unchurched and seekers for Christ.
