Mission always starts where we live—the people we know and the places we go. Together, we can work at serving our communities and spreading mercy and justice and love the best we can.
Mission then leads us to jump cultures and oceans to try to get God’s truth and love known all over this planet. Missionaries, many from our own church, teach and build hospitals and care and give food.
In all this, we point to Christ and the cross and His wonderful grace. That’s the most important mission in the entire world.
During our Global Ministries Conference in October 2008, we made faith pledges toward missions giving for 2009. If you missed our conference, but want to join us in our missions giving, download the Opportunity of Faith card to make a financial pledge to Chapel missions for 2009. You can drop the card in the offering during a worship service, or you can mail it to The Chapel, attn: missions pledge, 135 Fir Hill, Akron, OH 44304.
Listen to a message from our 2007 Global Ministries Conference, "What We Do in Missions." This message was presented in two parts by Pastors Jay Halley and Knute Larson. Download the message outline.
