The Parent Cue Collection

One of the primary goals within Chapel Kids is to equip parents with the tools they need in order to help their children develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. One of our favorite tools is our Parent Cue collection. This collection includes Small Talk cards, God Time worksheets, and Refrigerator Door cards—if you’re on the Chapel Kids email distribution list, you’re probably quite familiar with some or all of these!

The Small Talk card is a great resource for parents of preschoolers. This weekly card includes ideas and suggestions that will help you incorporate Sunday teachings at home, during playtime, bath time, cuddle time, any time! Your Small Talk card will also list the current memory verse that we’re encouraging our preschoolers to learn, along with the reference and summary for the Bible story that we’re sharing that week.  This way, you can help your child practice his memory verse at home, and you can talk with him about the Bible story he just heard! In addition, the Small Talk card features the “Bottom Line” for the month, which is the key concept that we want your children to understand by the month’s end. A Key Question relating to the Bottom Line will also appear on the Small Talk card—ask your little one this question to keep him focused on the Bottom Line!

Our God Time worksheets are similar to the Small Talk cards, but these are intended for kids in elementary school. These worksheets offer three days’ worth of suggestions for how you can engage your kids about God during the week. Each day, your child will have a new Bible verse to read and think about, along with a brief activity that will link Biblical passages to real-life situations. Your God Time worksheet will also include a definition of the current month’s virtue, the theme around which our curriculum for the month is based. Each activity on the worksheet will correspond to the monthly virtue in some way. It’s a great way to keep kids attuned to how they’re working out those virtues in their own lives!

Finally, we include the Refrigerator Door cards in our Parent Cue collection. Also for elementary-schoolers, the Fridge Door cards focus intently on a monthly memory verse. Each week, you’ll see the verse reiterated here, along with the reference for that week’s Bible story and the definition for the current virtue. In addition to the verse, the story reference, and the virtue, your Fridge Door card will include a selection of questions that relate to what we’re talking about on Sundays. These questions will help you start a conversation with your child about what they’re learning!

We distribute these cards every Friday via email, along with departmental updates and other Chapel Kids information. If you’re already getting our emails, we hope you’re using these cards at home every week! If you’re not on our email list yet, we’d love to have you—contact Chapel Kids at 330.315.5533 to be added to the list!
