Alyssa's Hike

Alyssa’s Fourth Annual Hike for the Hearts will be Saturday, September 20, 10:00am–1:00pm, at Goodyear Metropolitan Park on Newton Street in Akron.

So far, Alyssa’s Hike has raised $67,900 to find a cure for viral myocarditis and to fund camperships to Camp Carl. Over 350 children have received camperships, and 10 of them have come to know Christ at Camp Carl.

Alyssa Ann Calaway was a Chapel kid who died September 12, 2002, of viral myocarditis. Join us for this family event. Register by August 31 to receive a free T-shirt. Visit the Alyssa’s Hike Web site.

Imagine Unity will sponsor an evening at the Akron Aeros baseball game for fathers and sons and men and boys Tuesday, August 12, at 7:00pm. A 15-minute "assembly of unity" will be held on the field after the game including a challenge from Bishop Johnson and Pastor Larson. Tickets are $3 and are available at the Fir Hill Welcome Center (Akron Campus) and the Resource Center (Green Campus). Download the flyer.

Dear Friends:

Let's talk church! We are glad to be together with you in The Chapel.

Here we are together also in the new and now somewhat familiar role as co-pastors of this place and these people. Whom we love. And we two are grateful!

And here we are introducing some very lofty goals for the fall and also large challenges for right now. We need you to be in on these. Please consider it carefully. And we won't say just, "Pray about it," though we certainly urge that.

Intentions never can be about tomorrow. They have to start right now. You know that about dieting and you know it about church ministry and love for Jesus Christ. Here are some important issues:
