Imagine Unity, a newly formed alliance of major church associations, has as its goal to promote Christian and racial unity and harmony, to speak about love, and model reconciliation and unity. The alliance started last year with six organizations who sponsored an evening of unity with national speaker John Perkins who called on city leaders and Christians to model racial and faith unity.

Recently Imagine Unity wrote a Pledge of Unity and elected co-chairmen, Bishop Josephus Johnson of House of the Lord and the Bethel Vision Alliance, and Pastor Knute Larson of The Chapel, The Chapel Consortium of Churches, and Love Akron.

• Pastor William Bunton, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and president of the Akron and Vicinity Baptist Ministers

• Pastor Jeffrey Dennis, pastor of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and president of the Akron Unity Partnership

• Pastor Mark Ford, executive director of Love Akron

• Pastor Eugene Norris, pastor of Mountain of the Lord Fellowship and president of the Interdenominational Ministers Association

• Pastor Luther Cooper, pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church

• Pastor Melford Elliott, pastor of Great Bethel Baptist Church
