What a baby thinks?

What if we could hear a baby’s advanced logic when would-be parents come into the orphanage! “Please hold me," the child is feeling. "Please consider taking me to your home. This place can be cold, and I get held so infrequently here.”

“I need a mother and a father.”

And then considering adults from Akron, OH, lean down and touch the little girl’s hand. It is warm.

The 20,000 nerve endings on her tiny hand feel what they are meant to feel consistently. “That is so nice," she says inside. “I wish they could hear me.”

“Please take me home.”

And they do. And they win.

And the child wins. “I love you already,” she thinks as she hears them call her name. “Hold me tighter. Help me grow up.”

November is National Adoption Month, and many people have changed their minds or opened their options to adoption. They have saved lives.

My mother never met her birth mother, but she knew where love came from—my grandparent who adopted her and embraced her and brought her to Jesus the Christ.

Probably the person in the pew in front of you was adopted, or someone over there to your left. And many of the wonderful children we have in our church have come from other homes and even other countries.
